My Favorite Local Nonprofits to Give to This Giving Season

While generosity is in style every season, the fall and winter have a special place in my heart. With over 300 local nonprofits, I like to make sure I'm showing support for local charities and non-profits here in Summit County, CO.

In my role at LMR Consulting, I’ve had the unique opportunity to connect with many incredible nonprofits in Colorado – each of which is doing great work for our communities. Best of all, each nonprofit is filled with kind and deserving volunteers who give their time and energy every day. The least I can do is help connect them with each of you and encourage you to help support them in their missions!

Adopt an Angel with Summit Rotary:

It breaks my heart to think of the many children and families in our community who will spend this holiday season without basic necessities. The Summit Rotary Club is hoping to help change that with its Adopt an Angel program, which provides gifts for children in need.

By participating, you can make a huge difference in the lives of those around us. Every dollar goes toward bringing holiday joy in a practical and meaningful way. Best of all, it’s easy to give online – and you can trust that 100% of your donation will directly benefit the children in our community.

TEDxBreckenridge:

As one of the founding members, I've seen how TEDxBreckenridge has become a platform for sharing innovative ideas and sparking meaningful discussions among community members. It's a small but significant way to drive change and inspiration locally.

Most impressively, TEDxBreckenridge is 100% volunteer-supported - with passionate members donating their time and resources to create an impact. The yearly event brings together some of the most creative and innovative thinkers in our region to share their stories.

You can give to support TEDxBreckenridge online, and the event is always looking for forward-thinking sponsors who want to make a difference! I’ve loved my time spent volunteering for TEDxBreckenridge, and I urge you to join the cause this year.

Friends of the Library

Having previously served on the board, I've witnessed how Friends of the Library supports literacy and provides resources for everyone in the community.

Friends of the Library is more than just a group of book enthusiasts; it's a coalition of community members dedicated to nurturing the intellectual growth and literacy of Summit County. Established way back in 1960 and incorporated in 1977, this nonprofit has a  long-standing commitment to supporting our local libraries.

The group gathers every second Wednesday of each month (barring the book sale months), where discussions about fundraising events, programs, and numerous other opportunities to support our libraries take place. The Friends organize large book sales three times a year along with ongoing book sales, with all proceeds channeled to benefit the library.

Theatre Silco

The Lake Dillon Theatre Company (LDTC) had been a beacon of the arts in Silverthorne for decades – but the COVID-19 pandemic almost shut its doors for good.

Thankfully, generous donors and supporters have helped bring LDTC to life once more as Theater Silco. And with a brand new name comes brand new ways to get involved and enjoy the many arts and culture events that are now being hosted.

From live performances and virtual events to summer camps, Theatre Silco has something educational, entertaining, and inspiring for everyone. To join the 'Friends of Theatre Silco' or to make a donation, please visit their website today – and let’s keep the show going!

Building Hope

Mental health is a topic I'm super passionate about, and Building Hope provides crucial mental health resources. Their programs create a support network for individuals facing mental health challenges. And with mental health struggles on the rise everywhere, having a place where safe, accessible, and supportive resources are available is more important than ever.

By giving to the mission at Building Hope, you can ensure that volunteers, professionals, and teams are available to help anyone in our community who needs it. Join their mission and donate to make sure that nobody faces mental health issues alone.

Summit Lost Pet Rescue

Our furry friends are part of our family – and when they go missing, it can often feel like a piece of our home is gone. That’s why Summit Lost Pet Rescue exists: to make sure that nobody has to be without their pet for long.

Summit Lost Pet Rescue is a 100% volunteer-funded and operated organization that has helped reunite 715 pets with their owners. Plus, they offer education and resources to help protect the animal population and ensure strays are cared for.

But they rely on the generous donations of the public to keep their lifesaving mission going. So, if you can, please consider making a donation today – and help them save all the pups!

C-RAD

With my husband on the board, I've had a close look at the efforts of C-RAD (Colorado Rapid Avalanche Deployment) to make sure that anyone on the slopes is able to be rescued quickly should they find themselves in an avalanche or emergency.

C-RAD is a nonprofit organization that works with the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) and the U.S. Forest Service to provide funding and support for backcountry search and rescue teams throughout Colorado. By providing training, equipment, and avalanche awareness classes, C-RAD has helped save many lives and continues to do so.

Please consider donating today to help support the lifesaving work that C-RAD does in Colorado. Your donation will help them continue to provide training, equipment, and avalanche awareness classes that keep our backcountry safe for all of us who enjoy it!

Let’s Give A Gift of Hope

In a world that can feel so dark and divided, giving is one small – yet incredibly meaningful – way to bring light and hope into our lives. A gift of hope to any of these nonprofit organizations ensures that they have the resources they need to keep doing the valuable work that’s so important to our communities.

Whether you take part in Giving Tuesday or Colorado Gives Day or you make a donation in any other way, your gift of hope will truly make a difference. Thank you for taking the time to consider giving back this holiday season!
Have questions or want to learn more about any of these organizations? Feel free to reach out to me, and I’d be happy to help connect you with more information!
